Find Your Fire // Wednesday Wisdom // August 8th
“There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living” is one of my absolute favorite quotes by Nelson Mandela. I have it posted on my board at work to remind me that I cannot forget my passions and what drives me day in and day out! It is easy to get stuck in the mundane, the everyday. We go through life’s motions and forget that we have passions of our own just silently waiting to be discovered again. If you are “stuck” in a rut, FIND. YOUR. FIRE. No one is ever stuck, the situation just needs to be changed.
It wasn’t until I was pregnant with Noelia that I really started to think about my passions on a deeper level. I go into this a little bit more in my First Year Blogiversary Post, but essentially my pregnancy revealed to me that blogging and influencing was my next step in expressing my creativity and heart. I have always been open to my “story”; my hurts and struggles in hopes that it would help others experiencing the same obstacles. Noelia was my FIRE. If it wasn’t for her, I am not sure where I would be right now. Would I still be stuck at my current job not striving for something better? Would I be burying my desires that God placed in my heart? Who knows! What I do know is that I am a very passionate person that is on FIRE for what God has called me to do. There are days (a lot of them) that I doubt and ask “Are you sure this is what I am meant to do? Did I miss the ball?” but I am reaffirmed in the calling by God showing up again and again through people voicing it to me. Following that fire can be scary, but it is courageous and brave. My husband and I have made it our mission to always be uncomfortable; to not let ourselves sink into life with no passion and desire. We have both been through the trenches together and it has only been through being uncomfortable and Grace that we have been able to get out. Comfort is the enemy of progress.
So whatever it is, let that fire burn. Never let it distinguish! Your fire is that God-given desire that has been placed in your heart and it is only up to you to allow it to burn for all the world to see.
