Your Treasure // Wednesday Wisdom // September 12
Where do you place your value? Your desires? Your deepest treasure? I think being asked the question “What do you treasure?” can be kind of daunting, especially depending on who is asking! If it were asked to me, I of course would say my family; my husband, my daughter, my parents, my brother (on occasion), my friends, and all my passions. But it wasn’t until the really (really) hard times in my life that I realized that maybe my “treasure” wasn’t where it should be. My husband always says “true character is not shown in the good times, but in the bad“. This phrase could not be more true! This same statement can be applied to what our heart pursues. When you are given a choice, what path do you choose? Is it that path of light and truth? Or is it the path that your flesh is tempted by, where your deepest demons lurk? I am first to admit that there have been times I have chosen the path that my flesh was tempted by…and after realizing it, I always asked myself “Why on Earth would I do that?!” “This isn’t me!”
When it comes to what we treasure, I believe that our eyes need to be fixed on God. If our eyes are fixed on Him, what we treasure is aligned with His Word and truth. There is a lot of emptiness and falsehood in this world and treasuring something (or even someone) that isn’t aligned with God’s will can cause pain…totally speaking from experience here! It can be easy to get caught up in what “the world” treasures, especially during this social media age. The attacks of the devil are constant, but we HAVE to stand firm and keep our Faith close. The times will only get harder, but when we cling to what is good and treasure the things that matter you can stand strong!

Stand face to face with the younger me
All of the mistakes
All of her heartbreak
Here’s what I’d do differently
I’d love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on you, on you
I learned the lines and talked the talk (Everybody knows that, everybody knows that)
But the road less traveled is hard to walk (Everybody knows that, everybody knows)
It takes a soldier
Who knows his orders
To walk the walk I’m supposed to walk
And love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on you, on you
The things of Earth are dimming
In the light of Your glory and grace
I’ll set my sights upon Heaven
I’m fixing my eyes on you, on you
I’m fixing my eyes on you, on you
I’m fixing my eyes
Love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on you, on you
I fix my eyes on you, on you
I fix my eyes on you, on you
