The Cargo Trend

The first post of FEBRUARY!! Not quite Valentine’s themed for this one but total date night vibes for sure. We are talking all about the CARGO trend and how I am here for it!! Today I am styling a couple pieces from Windsor Store and everything I am wearing is under $30! Cargo pants are on trend right now and I love how they bring edge to any outfit. I love styling menswear items like blazers and combat boots. Kourtney Kardashian is one of my favorite style icons and she rocks menswear pieces like no other. That woman is everything!!

I love channeling my style icons and bringing some extra flare to the Midwest 😉 My friends and family always told me “You don’t dress like anyone else” and it is so true. I have always dressed the way I have wanted for as long as I can remember. I don’t like conforming to certain norms and I love experimenting with different looks. I love my heels, I love my barely-there tops, and I LOVE me some confidence. It took me a long time to get to this point where I felt like I truly be ME. And you know the best thing about that? It happened after I became a MOM. YES, after the body changes. After the life changes. My confidence blossomed. There is just something about being a Mom…it just makes you a freaking BADASS. Like yes, I gave birth…TWICE…now let me show you that I still got it! Confident, yet humble because I was not always this way. It wasn’t until I started filling my cup and pouring into myself that I started loving every inch of me. Sure…there are times that I see my saggy skin and think “I want my old belly button back!” but then I wouldn’t have the sweetness of life that I do now.

It’s confident women like Jennifer Lopez and Shakira that give me life to continue to stay true to me. They just gave the performance of their life last night. They are 50 and 43, both mothers to two kids, both female powerhouses that have influenced me in so many ways. As a Latina growing up, I was constantly bullied for my features…for my lips, my butt, my dark eyes…you name it! I was surrounded by a sea of look-a-like girls and I stood out like a sore thumb for many years before it was “cool” to be curvier and more ethnic.

And the same kind of people that made fun of me growing up are back at it shaming these women for being CONFIDENT & showing it. Man…what a time to be alive, America. I won’t get too political on here but the only people that are sexualizing the performance are the ones complaining about it. All I saw was HERITAGE, CONFIDENCE, FEMALE EMPOWERMENT, AND LOVE. Even Noelia said, “They are really pretty. They are so talented”. Let’s be like her, please!

So as a Latina confident in her own skin and the features her Mama gave her, be who YOU want to be and shine at it!
